Will there be a Dead Boy Detectives show? ›

As of July 2024, Netflix has not officially renewed Dead Boy Detectives for season 2, but fans have been buoyed by a recent interview with Greg Berlanti that suggests more is on the way, although Netflix has not officially renewed and declined to comment when asked.

Dead Boy Detectives is an American supernatural horror detective comedy-drama television series developed by Steve Yockey based on the DC Comics characters of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner.

Over the course of eight episodes, the ghost teens behind the Dead Boy Detectives agency — early 1900s young gentleman Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and 1980s “rude boy” Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri) — have assisted spirits stuck in the living world with their biggest challenges.

After getting together, the two decide that it's a “wrong place, wrong time” situation, with Crystal still dealing with her abusive demon ex and Charles being a ghost. Although both characters are straight (for now), the dynamic echoes a common one between Queer friends.
